Lightning protection of each component of wind turbine:

 

1. Blade: The position of the blade tip is mostly hit by lightning. After the lightning strikes the blade tip, a large amount of energy is released, and the strong lightning current causes the temperature inside the blade tip structure to rise sharply, and the water vaporizes and expands when heated, resulting in a large amount of energy. The mechanical force will cause the blade tip structure to burst and damage, and the other is the huge sound wave caused by the lightning strike, which will cause impact damage to the blade structure.

Lightning protection method: reduce the internal impedance of the struck object structure, form a path to the ground, add carbon fiber with good electrical conductivity and light weight to the composite material of the airfoil on the blade, and install a lightning receptor at the tip of the blade, through the cable and the blade. Flange connection, and then the hub is connected to the ground network through the ground wire in the tower to form a lightning channel.

2. Various cabinets in the cabin:

Generator power supply line: three-level lightning protection for power supply, (690V, 380V) switch-type lightning arrester for the first level, voltage-limiting 80KA lightning arrester for the second level, and voltage-limiting type 40KA for the third level. Lightning arrester.

Pitch control cabinet: TN-S power supply mode is generally used, so three-phase 100KA lightning arrester/single-phase 100KA lightning arrester/DC 24V power lightning arrester/twisted pair control signal lightning arrester should be installed at the incoming line.

Control room: 100KA lightning arrester is installed on the UPS incoming line from the control room at the bottom of the tower to the control room of the engine room.

3 Bottom equipment cabinet:

Install 40KA SPD at UPS output
Install a 40KA SPD power surge protector from the converter to the generator rotor outlet end of the engine room and install a 100KA SPD power surge protector on the incoming line
Install a 40KA SPD power surge protector from the grid-connected cabinet to the generator rotor outlet, and install a 100KA SPD power surge protector on the incoming line.
Install 20KA SPD power lightning arrester for various secondary instrument lines.
